Job summary

Town of Dartmouth seeks an Assistant Water & Sewer Superintendent to lead the Water & Sewer Division, overseeing construction, maintenance and operation of the water supply, treatment and sewer systems.

You will coordinate with the Board and Public Works, ensuring potable water supply, proper pressure for firefighting, compliance with regulations, and high water quality through continuous system monitoring and reporting.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in environmental studies required.
• Five years’ municipal water experience with three years in a supervisory capacity.
• Knowledge of potable water treatment principles and distribution systems.
• Licenses: Massachusetts Grade III Water Distribution, Grade II Water Treatment, Mass. Class D Driver; Backflow Inspector preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise construction, maintenance, and operation of Water & Sewer Division.
• Consult with Superintendent and Board on issues requiring technical input.
• Coordinate projects with DPW and other division heads.
• Ensure adequate potable water supply and proper pressure for firefighting and industry.
• Inspect contracted work for compliance and report progress and final results.
• Maintain flushing program and ensure water quality and system reliability.
• Oversee water sampling and testing per mandated standards.
