Job summary

Wilmington Preschool of the Arts is seeking Assistant Teachers to support toddlers in a licensed childcare center. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a background check, and prior childcare experience. College coursework or an associate’s degree is preferred.

Work Monday to Friday, 8:15am–5:15pm, with compensation of $13–$15 per hour based on education and experience. We offer competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with all classroom activities and goals.
• Implement activities supporting emotional, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development.
• Take direction, accept feedback, and implement improvements.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment for all children.
• Establish a professional rapport with families to provide quality care.
• Be physically able to work around young children, including stairs, walking, and standing.
• Lift and carry up to 40 lbs as part of the role.

• Toddlers

To be QUALIFIED for this position, we require a high school diploma OR GED, the ability to pass all background checks, and previous experience working in a childcare center. Completion of college level coursework or an associate's degree is preferred.

Required Shift:

Monday - Friday, 8:15am - 5:15pm

Compensation:

$13-15 per hour, based on education and experience
