Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Chattanooga, TN seeks an Assistant Telecommunications Engineer to support complex utility projects spanning SCADA, distribution automation, cyber security, microwave, wireless networks, fiber optics and smart grid.

You will assist in designing networks, prepare BOMs, drawings, wiring diagrams, and provide QA/QC driven deliverables while adhering to client standards and company policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field from a recognized, accredited program required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to apply intensive and diversified knowledge to broad areas of assignments; capable of devising new approaches to problems.
• GPA 3.0 strongly preferred; campus or community involvement preferred.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.
• EIT Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing telecommunications networks using client standards or developing new standards.
• Assist with project deliverables such as BOMs, specifications, yard layouts, equipment plans, wiring diagrams, and network architecture diagrams.
• Assist in execution of complex assignments using advanced tools to develop new or improved processes and methods.
• Identify and help resolve issues on projects as needed.
• Adhere to project schedules and ensure client satisfaction and QA/QC compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with company policies.
