BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) – Part-Time Assistant Teacher – Located at Torrington Middle School, Torrington, CT

Job Description

EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to work in the BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) After School Program in Torrington. The qualified candidate will be professional, have experience working with middle school-aged children, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be available during after‑school hours (2:30 pm‑5:45 pm). Torrington High School and Middle School staff are encouraged to apply. The Assistant Teacher works under the supervision of the Site Coordinator and the BASES Administrative Team.

Major Responsibilities

• Assist the Site Coordinator in the operation of the after‑school program daily
• Supervise children and provide a safe, welcoming environment
• Maintain positive relationships with families, children, and school personnel
• Set up and clean up of program site
• First Aid/CPR/Meds Admin certification to be acquired within 3 months of hire
• Other duties as may be assigned
• Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; college coursework in ECE/ELED or related field preferred
• Experience working with Middle School-aged children
• Knowledge of child development
• Awareness of age‑appropriate curriculum activities
• Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Priority given to current DistrictSchool Employees

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand for the entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students.
