Hampshire Township Park District seeks an Assistant Teacher to join our team in a full-time capacity. The role supports a group of children age ranges from infants to kindergarten, delivering indoor and outdoor activities and maintaining a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Lead Teacher, planning age-appropriate activities, participating in staff meetings, trainings, evaluations, orientations, and completing 15 clock hours of continuing education

Qualifications

  • Must have 18 years or older with HS diploma or GED and related college credits.
  • Experience in nursery/kindergarten or licensed day care is required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification must be current.

  • Assist Lead Teacher to plan age-appropriate activities across music, art, language, math and science.
  • Implement a variety of supervised activities in a relaxed but organized atmosphere.
  • Utilize resources of Little People Playtime and follow policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information related to the position.

Job description

The Assistant Teacher is a full-time position with duties both indoors and outdoors. This position is expected to work at least 40 hours per week. The Assistant Teacher is responsible for a group of children that may include infants, toddlers, preschool or Kindergarten age children. The Assistant Teacher must be available to attend staff meeting, trainings, evaluations, and orientations, fulfill the annual 15 clock hours of continuing education, and participate in parent conferences and/or prepare written parent reports. The Assistant Teacher will plan and execute a program for families at least once a year and/or participate in the annual open house.

  • When incorporating the curriculum, it is essential that planning implements a variety of supervised activities for the children in a relaxed but organized atmosphere.
  • The Assistant Teacher will utilize all available resources of Little People Playtime and its staff to ensure a smooth and effective delivery of services and will carry out the established policies of Little People Playtime.
  • The Assistant Teacher respects and maintains confidentiality of all information received in connection with this position.
Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalency (GED) AND
  • 60 semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester hours or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child-care/child development from birth to age six OR
  • One year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, Kindergarten, or licensed day care center and 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to childcare/child development from birth to age six
  • Possess current CDA Credential (Child Development Associate AND
  • Present documentation of current CPR and first aid certification
