Bensenville Park District is seeking an assistant preschool teacher to support the lead teacher in a nurturing, play-based preschool setting in Bensenville, IL. The role focuses on developing social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills through hands-on activities with children aged 2-5.

The position is part-time, 8:00am-3:00pm, Monday through Friday, with potential additional hours. Salary ranges from $15.00 to $17.00 per hour, based on experience.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of child development and educational best practices.

• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for preschool-aged children.
• Support the creation of a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all students.
• Supervise children in indoor and outdoor settings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Help facilitate social, emotional, and cognitive development through interactive play and structured activities.
• Communicate with parents and guardians about children's progress and needs as directed.
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan and coordinate special events and programs.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and children’s development under supervision.
• Promote positive behavior and assist in conflict resolution among students.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the classroom and outdoor areas.
• Support children’s artistic and practical skill development through curriculum activities.
• Help establish and maintain positive relationships with families via meetings, newsletters, and events.
• Incorporate creative arts, music, and movement into daily activities to foster self-expression.
• Work collaboratively with the Lead Instructor and Recreation Supervisor to support classroom goals.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

An assistant preschool teacher will support the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for preschool-aged children, helping with lesson planning, organizing activities, and managing the classroom.
