Job summary

Waypoint Services For Women Children and Families in Cedar Rapids is seeking an Assistant Child Care Teacher to join our Cedar Rapids team at KidsPoint locations. This full-time role supports the Lead Teacher to create a safe, structured, and engaging early childhood environment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

You will lead age-appropriate activities, help implement curriculum, monitor safety, and communicate with families.

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED (or in progress).
  • 1 year of childcare experience required.
  • Able to interact with children and communicate with parents.
  • Willing to complete required trainings (CPR/First Aid, Mandatory Reporter, etc.).
  • Reliable transportation and punctual.
  • Able to stay active and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to meet background check and health screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Help lead fun, age-appropriate activities and learning experiences that keep kids engaged and learning.
  • Assist in planning and implementing curriculum and daily activities.
  • Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Ensure a safe, supervised environment at all times.

  • Use positive guidance to encourage good behavior and problem-solving.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom.
  • Assist with daily routines including meals, hygiene, and transitions.
  • Communicate with families and contribute to daily updates.
  • Help maintain required documentation and licensing standards.

Position Summary:

Are you looking for a rewarding full-time role working with kids? Join our team as an Assistant Teacher and help create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. This role offers a great opportunity to build experience working with youth while developing general leadership skills.

Pay & Schedule

Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 6:30AM-5:45PM

Schedule: Full-Time 30-35 hours per week

Shift: 10:30am-5:45pm Monday-Friday

Starting Pay: $15/hour

What You’ll Need

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or GED (or in progress)
  • Have 1 year of childcare experience required
  • Feel confident interacting with children and communicating with parents
  • Be willing and able to complete required trainings (CPR/First Aid, Mandatory Reporter, etc.)
  • Have reliable transportation and a strong commitment to being on time
  • Be able to stay active throughout your shift and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to meet background check and health screening requirements
