Job summary

Child Development Schools is seeking an Assistant Teacher in Havelock, North Carolina to support young learners and collaborate with a Lead Teacher in creating a safe, engaging classroom environment.

You will assist with hands-on activities, storytelling, and everyday learning moments while building strong relationships with families and documenting daily progress.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required; Early Childhood Education coursework is a plus.
• Ability to pass a background check is required.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with families.
• Genuine care for children and commitment to safety and well-being.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of working with young children.

Responsibilities

Assistant Teacher -- Havelock, North Carolina

Your role

As an Assistant Teacher at Child Development Schools, you will help create a classroom filled with discovery, creativity, learning, and joy. Working alongside your Lead Teacher, you will support young learners through meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, kindness, and growth. From hands-on activities and storytelling to everyday learning moments, you will help shape a warm and welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to explore the world around them.

You will serve as a trusted partner to families, a positive role model for children, and an important part of our collaborative teaching team dedicated to making early childhood education engaging, nurturing, safe, and fun.

What your day looks like:

• Support the Lead Teacher in delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities for the classroom

Pay and benefits

Pay: 13-15 per hour, based on experience and education.
