Job summary

Child Development Schools in Garner, North Carolina is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in delivering engaging early childhood activities. You will help create a warm, safe classroom and foster curiosity, kindness, and growth in young learners.

You will observe children, communicate with families, and assist with daily documentation. A HS diploma or GED and the ability to pass a background check are required; degree coursework in Early Childhood Education is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18+ years old and able to pass a background check.
  • High school diploma or GED required; coursework in ECE is a plus.
  • Ability to build relationships with families and children.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Lead Teacher with age-appropriate lessons and activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom meeting licensing ratios.
  • Engage with children during activities, meals, and outdoor time.
  • Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher.
  • Build warm relationships with families through daily communication.
  • Assist with attendance and daily reports.

Assistant Teacher - Garner, North Carolina
Your role

As an Assistant Teacher at Child Development Schools, you will help create a classroom filled with discovery, creativity, learning, and joy. Working alongside your Lead Teacher, you will support young learners through meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, kindness, and growth. From hands-on activities and storytelling to everyday learning moments, you will help shape a warm and welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to explore the world around them.

You will serve as a trusted partner to families, a positive role model for children, and an important part of our collaborative teaching team dedicated to making early childhood education engaging, nurturing, safe, and fun.

What your day looks like:
  • Support the Lead Teacher in delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities for the classroom
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets licensing and ratio requirements
  • Engage directly with children during activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor time
  • Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher
  • Build relationships with families through warm, consistent daily communication
  • Assist with classroom documentation including attendance and daily reports
Pay and benefits

Pay: 13-15 per hour, based on experience and education.

Requirements
  • At least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Physical ability to meet the demands of working with young children

A degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education and prior experience in a licensed childcare center are a plus, but not required. We hire for character and train for skill.
