Job summary

Child Development Schools in New Bern, North Carolina is seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood team. You will work with the Lead Teacher to create a classroom filled with discovery, learning, and joy, supporting young learners through hands-on activities and stories.

You will engage with children, help maintain a safe, clean classroom, document daily activities, and communicate with families.

Assistant Teacher -- New Bern, North Carolina

Your role

As an Assistant Teacher at Child Development Schools, you will help create a classroom filled with discovery, creativity, learning, and joy. Working alongside your Lead Teacher, you will support young learners through meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, kindness, and growth. From hands-on activities and storytelling to everyday learning moments, you will help shape a warm and welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to explore the world around them.

You will serve as a trusted partner to families, a positive role model for children, and an important part of our collaborative teaching team dedicated to making early childhood education engaging, nurturing, safe, and fun.

What your day looks like:

• Support the Lead Teacher in delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities for the Infant, Toddler or Preschool classrooms
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets licensing and ratio requirements
• Engage directly with children during activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor time
• Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher
• Build relationships with families through warm, consistent daily communication
• Assist with classroom documentation including attendance and daily reports

Pay and benefits

Pay: 13-15 per hour, based on experience and education. This position comes with a $300 Sign On Bonus
