Job summary

Westover School is seeking an Assistant Swim Coach for the 2026–2027 winter season, beginning in late November and running through early March. The role supports the Head Swim Coach with practices, meet preparation, and skill development for student-athletes at Westover School in Middlebury, CT.

The ideal candidate demonstrates positive coaching, strong communication, and the ability to work 3–5 afternoons per week, with away meets and off-campus practices as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching at high school, club, or collegiate level preferred.
• Ability to motivate student-athletes in a positive, inclusive environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Lifeguard certification preferred; CT endorsement on driver’s license is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Swim Coach with planning and conducting practices and meet preparation.
• Provide technical instruction and individualized feedback to swimmers.
• Support a positive team culture emphasizing respect and growth.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, and travel.
• Collaborate on team logistics and transportation as needed.
• Communicate professionally with athletes, coaches, and staff.
• Support compliance with school and safety regulations.
• Travel with team to away meets and help with off-campus practices.
