Job summary

Westover School in Middlebury, CT seeks a Head Golf Coach for the Spring 2027 season. The role leads all aspects of the golf program, plans practices, prepares for competitions, and mentors student-athletes toward skill development and sportsmanship.

The ideal candidate has prior high‑school/club/college coaching experience, strong knowledge of golf fundamentals and rules, and a passion for inclusive, developmental coaching. This is a part‑time position integral to the Athletics Department.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching high school, club, or collegiate golf.
• Strong knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, and course management.
• Ability to lead and develop student-athletes in an inclusive environment.
• Ability to coach players with varying experience levels.
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Professionalism, sound judgment, and collaborative approach.
• Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
• Willingness to obtain Connecticut 'A' endorsement on driver’s license.
• Background checks and references completed.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the golf program, including practices and match-day operations.
• Provide instruction in fundamentals, swing mechanics, and etiquette.
• Develop practices for players with varying experience levels.
• Foster a positive, inclusive team culture focused on growth.
• Prepare athletes for competitive matches and provide coaching feedback.
• Safely supervise athletes during practices, matches, and travel.
• Collaborate with the Athletic Director on schedules, transportation, and facilities.
• Communicate professionally with students, families, faculty, and officials.
• Ensure compliance with school policies and league rules.
• Travel with the team to away matches as required.
