Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support the Site Superintendent and Project Manager in developing, managing, and completing a comprehensive job plan for assigned projects in Hawaii.

The role is on-site primarily with potential travel; offers opportunities to coordinate with architects, owners, and subcontractors while ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence. Relevant construction experience is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in construction management.
• Experience overseeing commercial, industrial, or multifamily projects.
• Knowledge of construction processes.
• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of building codes and blueprints.
• Knowledge of subcontractors' scopes and quality requirements.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Good problem solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to work locally and travel.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and specifications to gain comprehensive knowledge of job requirements.
• Develop job plan including schedule, access, manpower, and building requirements.
• Procure tools, labor and some materials.
• Interact with architects and owners to resolve job issues.
• Meet with General Superintendent for training and development.
• Communicate construction progress to supervisory personnel and clients; coordinate with subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Inspect work to ensure conformance with specifications and schedules.
• Manage the project using progress reports, materials used, and costs; adjust schedules as needed.
• Move personnel between projects to maximize resources.
