Job summary

STO Building Group in Boston, MA is seeking an Assistant Project Superintendent to supervise field coordination, quality control, and subcontracted work for construction projects. This role includes owning the loading dock schedule for two shifts and coordinating with the Project Manager and client representatives.

Responsibilities include reviewing plans, inspecting subcontractor work, maintaining safety programs, and updating field reports.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma is required; an associate degree is preferred.
  • 1–3 years of field experience on commercial projects.
  • Some supervisory responsibility as a General Foreman or Field Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate subcontractor work with other trades to meet schedule safely and productively.
  • Review project plans, specifications and contract requirements.
  • Inspect subcontractor work for code and contract compliance.
  • Coordinate material and equipment deliveries and update expediting log.
  • Assist in maintaining the project schedule and prepare task mini-schedules.
  • Monitor the LF Driscoll Safety Program.
  • Manage field manpower and prepare daily reports and job diaries.
  • Lead weekly foremen’s meetings with the Superintendent.

Assistant Superintendent

Structure Tone, part of STO Building Group, in Boston, MA is looking for an Assistant Project Superintendent who will be responsible for the timely and cost-effective field coordination, quality control and day-to-day supervision of subcontracted work forces for construction projects. Prepares the project schedule, maintains reports accurately describing project status, and review status with the Project Manager and client representatives on a regular basis. May be one of several Superintendents on larger projects.

This role will work first shift and be responsible for owning the loading dock schedule for 2 shifts of deliveries.

  • Coordinate subcontractor work with other trades so they work in a safe and productive way that meets schedule requirements
  • Become familiar with project plans, specifications and contract requirements
  • Review shop drawings for field dimensions and contract document compliance
  • Inspect the work performed by subcontractors to ensure that it meets the requirements of the plans and specifications
  • Understand all portions of the Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QAQC) Program and monitor the quality of subcontractor work
  • Coordinate dates for specific material and equipment deliveries and assist in updating the material expediting log
  • Help prepare and enforce the plan for material lay down areas
  • Supervise and coordinate punch list activities
  • Assist in maintaining the schedule and prepare mini-schedules for specific tasks
  • Monitor and enforce LF Driscoll Safety Program
  • Authorize and keep track of extra work performed by a subcontractor
  • Organize, schedule and coordinate 3rd party inspections and field reports that are produced
  • Assist in resolving document discrepancies for the subcontractors with the design professionals
  • Track field manpower for the subcontractors and assist in preparing field daily reports, job diaries and narratives
  • Update the field set of documents
  • Assist in managing the work of carpenters and laborers
  • Work with the Superintendent conducting and documenting the weekly foremen’s meetings
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School diploma as a minimum, Associates Degree in related field preferred,and 1 - 3 years of field experience in commercial projects.
  • Experience should include some supervisory responsibility as a General Foreman or Field Engineer.
  • Well developed communications, interpersonal, organizational and team work skills are required.

Salary: $60K - $80K

Compensation: In addition to base pay, eligible for discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
