Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Internship and/or related consulting experience is preferred.
• Proficient in standard engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and teamwork abilities.
• EIT Certification preferred; commuting to Kansas City area is expected.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred; campus/community involvement encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design of substation projects from conceptual phase through completion.
• Assist in preparation of substation design packages (arrangement, relaying, grounding, etc.).
• Assist with calculations: insulation, voltage drop, cable sizing, conduit fill.
• Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, BOMs, equipment specs.
• Apply IEEE, NESC, and industry standards guidelines.
• Assist with field inspections of substation facilities.
• Research and compile project data for managers.
• Support client presentations and project status visuals.
• Identify and resolve issues; support QA/QC processes.
