Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Structural Engineer in Kansas City, MO to support project teams across power, process, healthcare, and industrial facilities. You will assist in the design through construction phases, update drawings in AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, and perform field measurements as needed.

The role emphasizes collaboration, attention to detail, and the ability to work under supervision of a licensed PE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field (ABET preferred)
• Internship or related consulting experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of structural engineering techniques and codes
• Proficient with CAD/BIM software and MS Office
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
• Attention to detail and teamwork orientation
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist in structural design from conceptual phase through design completion
• Review and modify production drawings for multiple project types
• Create structural components as directed by project managers
• Support with drawings corrections in CAD/BIM software
• Assist with client presentations, shop drawing reviews and contract administration
• Conduct field inspections and measurements as required
• Perform other duties and comply with policies and standards
