Job summary

Max Mara Fashion Group in New York City is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to work closely with the Store Manager to drive sales and brand experience in the Saks environment.

You will lead a small team, deliver outstanding client service, manage inventory and visual standards, and participate in recruiting and onboarding while ensuring store operations align with brand objectives.

Qualifications

• BA preferred but not required.
• Minimum 3-5 years retail management experience; luxury RTW preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficient with relevant computer systems.
• Skilled in conflict management and resolution.

Job description

The Assistant Store Manager partners closely with the Store Manager to drive business development aligned with Max Mara’s brand strategy. This role is key in achieving sales goals, building a motivated team, and ensuring exceptional customer experiences while supporting overall store operations within the leased Saks environment.

Core Responsibilities:

Customer Service

• Support associates with client service challenges and reinforce clienteling best practices
• Help build and maintain a loyal local clientele and continuously grow new clients

Staff Development

• Use training and coaching to elevate team knowledge and performance
• Manage ongoing performance to consistently meet sales and KPI targets
• Lead by example and maintain strong floor presence
• Assist in creating a positive, motivating work environment

Operations

• Assist in driving the store’s success according to brand objectives
• Maintain inventory control following company policies to minimize shrink
• Support financial goals by managing expenses, gross margin, and sell-through
• Ensure optimal stock levels for maximum sales growth

Store Visuals

• Uphold merchandise presentation standards as directed by the visual department
• Maintain and communicate strong product knowledge
• Consistently represent and uphold the Max Mara brand image

Human Resources

• Assist the Store Manager with recruiting and onboarding new team members
• Supervise store personnel, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures
• Communicate effectively with the store team, peers, and corporate office
