Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development in Hazel Crest, IL. You will assist with daily store functions, organize merchandise, and help lead Store Associates while ensuring a safe, friendly shopping experience for customers.

The role emphasizes opening/closing procedures, adherence to corporate directives, and maintaining clean, well-organized sales floors and stockrooms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize, and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests and internal communications.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits/receipts), and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and procedures including safety guidelines and ensure associates follow them.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with professional interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store (bathrooms, floors, trash) and ensure neat presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
