Job summary

Family Dollar in Southfield, MI is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with daily store activities, supervise associates, handle opening/closing, and help maintain merchandise, displays and stockroom organization.

This part-time role emphasizes safety, policy adherence, and excellent service. Prior retail or grocery experience is preferred, and you will help lead a positive, efficient store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and stand/walk frequently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives related to store activities and communications.
• Maintain fixtures, displays, and promotional effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record-keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits).
• Maintain a clean, stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
• Protect company assets, including store cash, and ensure policy compliance.
• Support Store Manager in training and developing Store Associates.
