Job summary

Family Dollar in Harrells, NC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with opening/closing procedures, merchandise flow, and daily directives while maintaining a safe, friendly store environment.

The role requires strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills, with experience in retail management preferred. This is a part-time position at a Family Dollar location in North Carolina, offering

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing and pulling.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision‑making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Assist in organizing and transferring merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays; ensure store assets are protected.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling; support loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and ensure associates follow policies.
• Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Ensure store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, waste removal, and neat presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
