Job summary

Family Dollar is hiring an Assistant Store Manager in Brooklyn to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with day-to-day activities, supervise staff, manage merchandise flow, and ensure clean, safe store conditions.

The role requires strong communication, customer service, and leadership skills, with the ability to lift up to 55 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment. Full-time position located in Brooklyn, NY.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical activities (walking, standing, lifting)
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment and provide customer-focused service.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and related communications about store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for signage effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record-keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash handling, deposits).
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, restocked bathrooms, floors swept/mopped, trash removed, areas neat.
• Other duties as assigned.
