Job summary

Family Dollar in West Orange, New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, assist customers, and develop team members.

You will oversee opening/closing procedures, organize merchandise, support payroll and scheduling, and ensure compliance with company policies while maintaining a clean, safe store environment.

This is a part-time role requiring a high school diploma or equivalent and prior retail or store-management experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure all store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and ensure store associates follow procedures.
• Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, restocking bathrooms, sweeping/mopping, taking out trash.
