Job summary

Family Dollar in Deadwood, SD is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with day-to-day activities and help ensure the store runs smoothly.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and a preference for retail management experience. You will train staff, maintain visual standards, process merchandise, and uphold safety and loss-prevention practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Able to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Excellent customer service, organizational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store operations and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers with questions and concerns in a positive manner.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain front fixtures and displays for promotional effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, record-keeping, and loss prevention.
• Keep store areas well-stocked and organized per company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets including store cash.
• Follow safety policies and ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Ensure cleanliness of the store, bathrooms, floors, and waste disposal.
• Additional duties as assigned.
