Job summary

Family Dollar in Clarksdale, MS seeks an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with daily activities, organize merchandise, and ensure store standards are met, while maintaining a positive, safe environment for customers and associates.

The role involves supervising/ training Store Associates, handling opening/closing, and processing directives. A strong focus on customer service and teamwork is essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical tasks (standing, walking, etc.).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store operations and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns.
• Help organize, and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor, maintaining seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process all corporate directives and communication related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, bookkeeping (including payroll, scheduling, cash deposits/receipts) and loss prevention.
• Keep store areas well-stocked and organized to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain store cleanliness, including bathrooms, floors, trash, and overall presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
