Job summary

Family Dollar in Waynesboro, MS is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to oversee store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with day-to-day activities, organize merchandise, and help train and supervise associates to maintain a safe, friendly environment.

The role requires strong communication and problem solving, a dedication to guest satisfaction, and the ability to manage inventories, schedules, and loss prevention while upholding company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll and scheduling, and loss prevention
• Maintain well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure staff follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Foster a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff
• Maintain cleanliness of the store, bathrooms, floors, and trash removal
• Other duties as assigned
