Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development. This role will assist with day-to-day store activities, help customers, organize merchandise, and ensure seasonal areas are maintained.

You will participate in opening/closing procedures, process directives, supervise and train Store Associates, and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment while protecting assets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drugstore environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and handle frequent walking, standing, and movement.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
• Protect store assets, including cash.
• Ensure policies, safety guidelines, and procedures are followed.
• Help store manager supervise, train, and develop store associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean and presentable; restock bathrooms, sweep/mop floors, take out trash.
• Other duties as assigned.
