Job summary

Family Dollar in Channel View, TX is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, enhance customer service and develop the team.

You will assist with opening/closing, organize merchandise, supervise staff, ensure store standards and safety, and handle payroll and deposits as needed. This position emphasizes a fast-paced, high-energy environment with strong customer focus and loss-prevention awareness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment and deliver excellent customer service.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits/receipts.
• Maintain store areas to company standards and security of assets.
• Adhere to safety policies and supervise store associates with Store Manager.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment; keep store clean and presentable.
• Other duties as assigned.
