Job summary

Family Dollar is hiring an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development in Merrillville, IN. The role involves assisting with daily functions, stocking, safeguarding assets, and training Store Associates in a fast-paced, welcoming environment.

Part-time position with responsibilities including opening/closing, processing directives, and maintaining clean, organized spaces. Adequate physical ability and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; able to read/interpret directives.
• Retail store management experience preferred.
• Able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong teamwork and customer service abilities.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers with inquiries in a positive, approachable manner.
• Organize and stock merchandise from delivery to floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain fixtures and displays for promotional effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering, damaged merchandise, and record keeping.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and secure assets.
• Support Store Manager in training and development of associates.
• Ensure a safe, respectful environment for customers and staff.
• General duties as assigned.
