Job summary

Family Dollar in Indianapolis is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, assist customers, and develop the team. You will oversee opening and closing procedures, coordinate merchandise flow from delivery to floor, and support adherence to company policies.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and store-management experience; strong communication and customer-service skills; ability to lift up to 55 lbs; and a collaborative, safety‑minded approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Store management experience in retail or grocery environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment and provide customer service.
• Proven problem solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure staff compliance.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers, associates, and leaders.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, bathrooms, floors, and overall appearance.
• Additional duties as assigned.
