Job summary

Family Dollar in Manchester, CT is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with organizing merchandise flow and supervise staff to ensure smooth daily operations.

The role requires strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities in a high-energy team environment. A high school diploma is preferred, and prior store management experience is welcome; training and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical duties as described.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional storefront fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits/receipts; support loss prevention.
• Maintain neat, well-stocked sales floor and stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, safety guidelines, and ensure staff compliance.
• Assist Store Manager in supervising, training, and developing Store Associates.
• Foster a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, tidy, and presentable including bathrooms, floors, and waste management.
• Other duties as assigned.
