Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to maintain a clean, customer-first store and supervise staff under the Store Manager. You will handle merchandise presentation, deposits, and daily paperwork while protecting assets and reducing losses.

You will also help with scheduling, training, safety, and compliance, ensuring planograms are followed and store profitability is maximized. This role requires strong communication and cash-control skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to supervise employees and manage cash handling and deposits.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to open/close the store and support profitability goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership and operate cash register to itemize purchases.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise flow: receiving, stocking, restocking and displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Assist with planograms and ensure proper product presentation.
• Ensure financial integrity with cashier accountability, refunds/overrides, tills, and deposits.
• Assist with store management in the Store Manager's absence.
