Job summary

Family Dollar in Independence, MO is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to assist with store operations, customer service, and staff development. You will help with day-to-day activities on the sales floor and backroom, ensuring displays are maintained and procedures followed.

The role emphasizes supporting the Store Manager, training associates, maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting environment, and handling opening/closing procedures.

Qualifications

• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize, and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping including payroll, scheduling, and cash handling, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of the store including bathrooms, floors, trash, and neatness.
• Other duties as assigned.
