Job summary

Family Dollar in Raytown, MO is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with day-to-day activities, supervise sales floor and stockroom, and ensure inventory and safety standards are met.

The role requires strong communication, leadership and problem-solving abilities; you will train Store Associates, oversee opening/closing procedures, and uphold corporate directives while delivering a positive shopping experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; read, interpret, and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent movement.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision‑making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
• Maintain well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect store assets, including cash, and adhere to safety policies.
• Supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, restrooms stocked, floors clean, and areas neat.
• Other duties as assigned.
