Job summary

The Salvation Army in Kentwood, MI is hiring an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in daily operations, supervise staff, oversee production and sales, and maintain store appearance and safety. This full-time role includes paid training and benefits after 90 days.

You will help with banking and records, customer development, and community relations, ensuring a positive shopping experience and alignment with the organization's mission. Flexible weekend scheduling is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2 years of retail experience (thrift experience a plus).
• Valid Driver's License is required.
• Basic computer proficiency including POS systems is required.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check is required.

Responsibilities

• Support staff training and supervision as assigned.
• Implement strategies to meet production and sales goals.
• Assist manager with store maintenance, safety, security, and cleanliness.
• Protect resources through product control procedures to prevent shrinkage.
• Develop customer retention plans and create an enjoyable shopping experience.
• Communicate with Store Manager regarding all aspects of store operations.
