Job summary

Family Dollar in San Antonio, TX is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with opening/closing, merchandising transfers, payroll and scheduling, and loss prevention while maintaining store standards.

The role emphasizes leadership, adherence to policies, and a positive, safe environment for customers and associates. Prior retail management experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment; exceptional customer service skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, process damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure staff follows procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Ensure store cleanliness, including bathrooms, floors, trash, and neatness.
• Other duties as assigned.
