Job summary

Family Dollar in Texas is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with daily tasks, help customers, manage merchandise flow, and support the Store Manager in training and supervising associates.

The role requires strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on maintaining store standards, safety, and a positive team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical tasks including walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process all corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash handling and loss prevention
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all store assets, including cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure all associates follow policies
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and employees
• Keep store clean including bathrooms, floors, trash, and neat presentation
• Other duties as assigned*
