Job summary

ALDI in Portland, ME seeks an Assistant Store Manager to help lead daily store operations and drive performance. You will assist in supervising staff, managing schedules, and executing operational plans while identifying training opportunities to develop the team.

You will support implementation of company strategy, monitor the competitive environment, and ensure adherence to policies, inventory, and cash controls to minimize losses. This role emphasizes teamwork and frontline leadership.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment.
• Prior management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results.
• Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports.
• Identify training and development opportunities for direct reports.
• Model ALDI core values to create teamwork and a positive store culture.
• Monitor the competitive environment and adjust operations to maintain competitiveness.
• Participate in interviewing store personnel and support hiring decisions.
• Ensure adherence to inventory procedures, product handling, and cash control policies.
• Resolve customer concerns in the direct leader's absence.
• Maintain store cleanliness, signage, and proper stock levels.
• Assist with payroll, loss prevention, and training of new employees.
• Supervise daily team operations and escalate issues when needed.
