Job summary

Dollar Tree, Inc. in Beech Grove, Indiana is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development.

You will help with merchandise placement, opening/closing procedures, and maintaining store standards to ensure a safe, efficient shopping environment for customers and associates. The role emphasizes strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with responsibility for training staff and upholding safety and policy compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store-related communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and company policies; ensure staff compliance.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, including restrooms, floors, trash, and presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
