Job summary

Family Dollar in Lexington, KY is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with day-to-day activities, help customers, and ensure merchandise is organized from delivery to floor.

You will also supervise Store Associates, maintain inventories and displays, and uphold safety and policy standards to deliver a positive shopping experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner
• Organize and transfer merchandise between delivery, stockroom, and sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Process corporate directives and store communications
• Maintain store fixtures, displays, and promotional effectiveness
• Assist in ordering merchandise and record-keeping, including payroll and cash handling
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and secure assets
• Supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Ensure a safe, respectful environment for customers and staff
