Job summary

Family Dollar in Pikeville, Kentucky is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help oversee daily store operations and staff development. You will assist with customer service, merchandise organization, and adherence to company policies while maintaining a positive environment for customers and teammates.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, with the ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred and ability to read, interpret and explain directives.
• Retail management experience in grocery or drug store environment preferred.
• Must lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending and repetitive lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high‑energy, team environment with strong customer focus.
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store operations and day‑to‑day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor, maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effects of fixtures and displays and ensure store standards.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean and stocked store areas and protect all company assets including cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure associates follow procedures.
• Support Store Manager in training and development of Store Associates.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and professional environment for customers and staff.
• Ensure bathrooms and store areas are clean and presentable.
• Other duties as assigned.
