Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, supervise staff, and help the Store/General Manager meet sales goals. You will assist with scheduling, training, and delivering outstanding customer service, while driving initiatives to improve the overall bookstore experience.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the Store Manager or General Manager.
• Direct operational functions and assist with scheduling and team development.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to the academic and co-curricular community while helping the store meet or exceed sales goals.
• Identify business opportunities and motivate the team to create customer experiences that build loyalty.
• Train, direct, and counsel team members to support products, programs, and initiatives.
• Drive the team to achieve measurable results on customer experiences and sales.
