Savage Surplus, a fast-growing tools and home goods store, is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to join our team. In this role, you will support the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations, including customer service, merchandising, buying, inventory control, expense management, profitability, regulatory compliance, and special projects. The position requires availability to work Saturdays and Sundays.
What You Will Do
- Support the Store Manager in all operational areas, including inventory, safety, merchandising, financial tasks, and customer service.
- Maintain excellent customer service and a welcoming shopping environment.
- Handle cash transactions and oversee cash handling procedures.
- Assist in training, developing, and motivating team members to build a high-performance team and reduce turnover.
- Regularly inspect the store to ensure compliance with all standards and policies.
- Monitor scheduling, purchases, and expenses to keep the store within budget.
Your Skills and Knowledge
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate effectively.
- Good eye for merchandising and store organization.
- Basic knowledge of tools and home improvement merchandise, preferably from experience at stores like Home Depot or Lowe's.
- High energy, enthusiasm, and a people-oriented personality.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Flexibility to work on weekends, including Saturdays and Sundays.
Desired Work Experience
- At least 2 years of retail experience.
- Experience with tools or sales in a related environment is highly desirable.
- Leadership experience, such as store manager or assistant manager, is preferred.
