GENERAL PURPOSE:
Responsible for managing and supervising all areas assigned by the Store Manager, following policies related to Customers, Associates, and merchandising. Learn all phases of Store operations. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager leads the entire operation to ensure company standards and best practices are met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General Operating Requirements:
- Lead all Company Best Practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches.
- Assist in analyzing Store reports to evaluate expenses and performance.
- Communicate variances to Company standards to the Store Manager.
- Ensure proper scheduling of Associates to meet business needs.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Oversee scheduling and completion of cleaning tasks, including restrooms.
- Accept special assignments from Leadership.
- Manage payroll administration, including punch edits, scheduling compliance, and reporting.
Organizational Development:
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing non-exempt Associates.
- Ensure compliance with personnel policies.
- Handle Associate Relations issues by communicating incidents to the Store or District Manager.
Expense Control:
- Monitor expenditures to stay within budget.
- Control payroll hours and adjust based on business trends.
Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment:
- Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors.
- Ensure Associates understand emergency procedures.
- Maintain adherence to safety policies.
- Facilitate monthly safety meetings.
Customer Service:
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
- Display courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Implement customer service and merchandise presentation programs.
- Supervise and coach Associates in providing friendly service.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the Company brand.
- Maintain a professional appearance and enforce the Dress Code.
- Ensure the store is clean, neat, and organized.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
Merchandise Processing and In-Store Marketing:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards.
- Organize merchandise according to guidelines.
- Manage merchandise processing efficiently.
Loss Prevention:
- Train Associates on Loss Prevention and store shortage goals.
- Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information.
- Lead inventory process and monitor policies.
- Maintain the Public View Monitor system.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- At least two years of Store or Assistant Store Manager experience in retail.
- Ability to supervise, motivate, and communicate positively.
- Handle multiple tasks, prioritize, give directions, and follow through.
- Set priorities and exercise independent judgment.
- Maintain high customer service quality.
- Fluency in English.
- Available to work evenings and weekends.
- Perform basic retail math calculations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
- Operate store equipment as required.
- Spend up to 100% of time standing, walking, and moving.
- Bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift over 25 lbs.
- Use janitorial and store equipment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct supervision of all non-exempt Associates.
