Summary
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Additionally, AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates, and provide leadership. The AIT and Assistant Manager will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager position is a progression from the AIT position and includes additional high-level duties specific to that role, though most responsibilities are shared.

Sales Generation and Guest Service
- Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, and provide legendary service.
- Answer questions regarding store and merchandise confidently.
- Help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs.
- Anticipate and fulfill Guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience.
- Demonstrate product knowledge and share sales education with the team.
- Stay informed about current sales, promotions, policies, and security practices.
- Achieve personal sales goals and maintain high standards of customer service across all store areas.
- Build and maintain good Guest relationships to develop a client-based business.
- Lead by example with showmanship, excellent service, and attentiveness.
- Use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily to meet or exceed goals.
- Participate in inventory management and expand Guest selection using available tools.
- Recognize and communicate Guest levels and preferences.
- Seek feedback and continuously improve sales presentations.
- Perform leadership actions consistently, regardless of management presence.
- Plan sales goals with the Store Manager and take ownership of store sales performance.
- Show passion for product education and showmanship to achieve results.
Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development
- Recognize recruiting opportunities and utilize various referral methods.
- Coach and develop new Teammates, fostering a positive and motivating environment.
- Participate in daily training, impact sessions, and reviews using the Performance Tracker.
- Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks and demonstrate product and showmanship skills.
- Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new staff.
- Train and coach on non-sales positions and store policies.
- Identify and address training needs proactively.
Visual Merchandise Management
- Own product zones, recognize opportunities, and execute visual standards.
- Delegate and review visual projects with the Store Manager.
- Maintain visual standards and execute updates effectively.
- Recognize merchandising opportunities and communicate solutions.
- Lead store tours and ensure freight and displays meet standards.
Operations
- Maintain flexibility in scheduling, including holidays and weekends.
- Utilize planners, execute opening/closing checklists, and handle security and theft prevention.
- Follow POS procedures and handle calls professionally.
- Maintain a clean, organized store environment.
- Report concerns and policy violations promptly.
- Complete all HR and store operational tasks accurately and timely.
Supervisory and Leadership
- Support and promote leadership principles and personal growth.
- Provide feedback, conduct interviews, and handle scheduling changes professionally.
- Perform job duties with high customer service standards and foster a positive team environment.
- Handle special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; 1-3 months retail experience or equivalent. Ability to operate a vehicle and travel as needed. Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a retail environment with moderate noise.
