About the Position:
If you have a passion for food and are committed to delivering excellent guest experiences, this role may be perfect for you. As Assistant Store Manager, you will serve as an ambassador of the store, demonstrating hospitality to guests and team members. You will work with the Store Manager to enhance team engagement, boost productivity, and drive business success.
What You'll Do:
- Lead by example in hospitality, educating team members and guests on products and services to provide meal solutions
- Manage team schedules in collaboration with the Store Manager, aligning with guest shopping hours
- Assist in analyzing sales, P&L reports, and other metrics to inform business decisions
- Support forecasting and staffing by working with the Store Manager and Talent Acquisition
- Partner with the Guest Services Manager to provide onboarding and orientation for new team members
- Contribute to team training through The Fresh Market Academy and on-the-job learning
- Coach team members to improve operations, development, and retention
- Help manage store inventories and teams to minimize product loss
- Ensure team adherence to company standards and policies
- Manage the store’s social media following The Fresh Market guidelines
- Collaborate with department managers to promote teamwork and engagement
- Ensure safety and food safety compliance per policies and legal requirements
Availability:
This role requires flexibility, including working weekends, evenings, holidays, and variable shifts.
Qualifications:
Minimum requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with 5-7 years of retail experience, including leadership roles
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members, management, and guests
- Ability to interpret planograms, layouts, and schematics for merchandising
- Understanding of policies and procedures
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in perishables, hospitality, or grocery retail
- Experience with production planning software
- Experience with applicant tracking systems (iCIMS preferred)
Physical and work conditions:
- Repetitive movements, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, exposure to extreme temperatures
- Use of tools and equipment such as knives, ladders, pallet jacks (except under 18)
- Long periods on feet, standing or walking without breaks
- Wearing required protective gear
