Job summary

Ball State University Athletics is seeking an enthusiastic and student-centered Assistant Softball Coach to join our softball program and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our student-athletes. This position will assist with all aspects of the softball program, including practice and game preparation, skill development, scouting and recruiting, player development, and team operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Collegiate playing experience and/or softball coaching experience.
Valid driver's license with insurability under university fleet policy.

Responsibilities

Provide teaching and instruction to student-athletes.
Assist with all aspects of the softball program as directed by the head coach.
Develop planning of practice sessions and competitive coaching situations.
Serve as primary defense coordinator and infield specialist.
Organize and implement a focused player development plan(s).
Support cultivating a strong competitive recruit database and manage recruiting software filtering.
Assist in assessing and recruiting athletes into the program.
Support team travel arrangements and scouting reports.
Develop pre-competition evaluations of opponents and fundraising opportunities.
Support softball camps and clinics and mentor graduate/volunteer staff.
