Job summary

The GEO Group is hiring for a Sergeant in a correctional setting in Arizona. You will oversee security and control functions during your shift to maximize facility coordination in inmate supervision and safety.

The role requires experience in corrections, a high school diploma, and the ability to write clear reports and manage training for officers. Arizona driver’s license and recent security position experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Must meet the requirements of being a Correctional Officer.
• One year of experience in a correctional setting is required.
• Ability to write communications, documents, policy, and other required written correspondence.
• Must understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions.
• Must have completed an approved training program resulting in a certificate of satisfactory completion.

Responsibilities

• Supervise inmates during mealtime.
• Routinely inspect all security equipment (doors, gates, fences, lighting systems).
• Ensure all reports written by officers during shift are submitted as required.
• Oversee on‑the‑job and safety training for officers.
• Supervise perimeter inspection and detect safety hazards.
• Investigate and report all instances of inmate disturbances.
• Assist inmates who are injured or traumatized with prompt help.
• Work with inmate workers, provide training, and inspect their work.
• Participate in decisions regarding performance ratings, disciplinary actions, and job assignments.
• Conduct regular physical inspections of the facility to ensure policy compliance.
