Job title: Assistant Safety Manager

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

The role can be based anywhere in the US but requires frequent travel (at least 50%) to multiple job sites in GA, AL, MS, NC, SC, TX, AZ, OH, VA, KS, etc.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Safety Manager with a strong background in industrial construction safety. This role ensures a safe work environment, enforces safety policies, and supports employees in completing projects incident-free while maintaining strong client relationships and a positive company image.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold a strong safety culture across job sites.
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures tailored to project needs.
  • Stay updated on local, state, and federal construction safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with project management to create and maintain emergency response plans.
  • Conduct on-site safety orientations for new hires.
  • Identify and address training needs for field staff.
  • Recognize and encourage safe work behaviors.
  • Participate in subcontractor and general contractor meetings as needed.
  • Provide guidance to safety coordinators, project managers, and superintendents.
  • Perform regular safety audits and ensure compliance.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with OSHA site visits and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with safety documentation, PPE requirements, and equipment inspections.
  • Maintain detailed safety records and reports.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety planning into schedules.
  • Conduct daily site observations and document improvements.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in construction safety management (or equivalent education/experience).
  • OSHA 510 certification required; OSHA 500 preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Additional safety training (Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Trenching, HAZCOM, etc.).
  • BCSP or equivalent safety certification preferred.
  • Ability to travel and stay at remote job sites as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to work long hours, walk long distances, and navigate construction environments.
  • Experience with auditing systems and reporting preferred.
  • Procore knowledge is a plus.
