Wilson Farm Inc. in Lexington, MA is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to join our Retail Bakery department.

You will support the Retail Bakery Manager with daily operations, oversee staff, ensure customer satisfaction, and help manage the bakery's inventory, pricing, and vendor orders. In this role you will lead a team, schedule shifts, handle customer inquiries, and maintain a clean, well-organized bakery display.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as Shift Leader/Supervisor or Assistant Manager in a retail food/bakery setting.
• Customer service experience preferably in a retail food/bakery, food service, restaurant setting.
• Full-time schedule including opening/closing shifts; ability to work holidays and varying hours.

Wilson Farm, Lexington, MA is hiring an experienced Assistant Manager to join our Retail Bakery department!

Our customers shop with us for our grocery selections; our fresh, locally grown produce, our highly regarded bakery, our range of delicious prepared foods from our kitchen; our beautiful flowers and plants (many grown on premise) and our courteous and helpful staff, providing an overall positive shopping experience for customers visiting the store. We are hiring an experienced individual to join and successfully assist the Retail Bakery Manager with daily and weekly responsibilities as they relate to ensuring the highest level of customer service expected by our shoppers.

Primary Responsibilities for an Assistant Manager:

• Customer service, problem-solving/resolution and escalation as needed
• Assist customers with selecting bakery products - special attention given to taking our custom cake orders and providing accurate detailed information to meet/exceed the customer's expectation.
• Review daily/weekly/seasonal inventory of bakery products
• Place orders with assigned vendors
• Ensure pricing and accuracy of pricing of products occurs prior to stocking
• Rotation of product to ensure freshness and expiration code compliance
• Display planning with Retail Bakery Manager and coordination with other departments
• Provide positive customer interactions in a friendly and helpful manner at all times
• Assist the Retail Bakery Manager in leading and supporting Retail Bakery staff, providing clear direction and communicating department priorities, responsibilities, expectations, and operational changes.
• Partner with the Retail Bakery Manager to coordinate employee scheduling and daily staffing needs, ensuring appropriate department coverage and managing meal/rest breaks, call-outs, and schedule changes to support smooth operations and excellent customer service.
• Oversee and perform general clean up, organizing of department display/shelf area to maintain neat appearance
• Other related tasks as assigned by Retail Bakery Manager

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Shift Leader/Supervisor or current Assistant Manager in a retail food/bakery setting (e.g. Whole Foods, Wegmans, Starbucks, Panera Bread) leading staff and responsibility for product.
• Customer service experience preferably in a retail food/bakery, food service, restaurant setting

Work Schedule:

Full-time (45-50 hours/week). Schedule will be a mix of “opening” 7am - 5pm and “closing” 10am - 7pm schedules on weekdays and weekend days (will occasionally open 1 hour earlier). Holiday periods may require more hours and flexibility in schedule (which is greatly appreciated) to meet business needs.

Physical requirements: (THIS IS A PHYSICAL JOB)

• Standing/bending/reaching for periods of time
• Must be able to frequently lift/move totes or boxes of products (approx. 30-40lb)
