Job summary

The Culinary Institute of America is seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager, Dining Room to support the Food and Beverage Operations team and Restaurant Faculty in daily on-campus restaurant operations. You will ensure guest satisfaction through courteous service and efficient FOH management.

You will lead FOH opening/closing, train students, maintain manuals, and collaborate with BOH on menus, forecasts, and service quality, while upholding CIA standards and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree from the CIA or similar institution.
• One year of experience in a fine dining establishment.
• Bachelor’s Degree from the CIA or another accredited institution (preferred).
• TIPS Certification (preferred).
• ServSafe or equivalent (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Facilitate open daily communication with FBO and Restaurant Faculty.
• Manage opening/closing FOH procedures.
• Train and assign FOH side duties to staff and students.
• Cross-train students and work-study participants for FOH roles.
• Create and maintain FOH position manuals.
• Assist with issuing and quality control of food/beverage during service.
• Coordinate menu updates, allergen charts, and daily changes with BOH.
• Supervise student attendance, scheduling and HR communications.
• Provide beverage service at the bar when needed.
• Ensure adherence to CIA safety, sanitation, and dress standards.
